Can I show a patio that does not exist yet?
The patio change is intended to replace an existing visible paved area. For a new layout, a measured garden design is a more appropriate starting point.
Can it leave steps and borders in place?
The edit instructions ask for existing levels, steps, drainage and surroundings to be retained. Check each of these in the output.
Does the image confirm how many slabs to buy?
No. Quantities need measurements, the chosen slab sizes and allowances for cuts and waste.
